CLUB HISTORY
The club was established in 1974 and was known as the "Bowmen of the NT" and operated from a small area at Mararra Sports Ground. In 1975 the name changed to "Darwin Top End Bowhunters Inc."
In 1991 the club negotiated for and was awarded a parcel of land in the Howard Springs District. This 55 acre section of land was formally a site used as a quarry and crusher for ballast for the Armed Forces Rail Line, and later used by the Darwin Sun Club. The acreages of natural bushland and quarry landscaping has proved adequate for the establishment and boasts three field archery courses with targets blending into natural bush surroundings.

THE CLUB TODAY
Today the Top End Bowhunters Club is growing stronger each year with the clubhouse providing meals and refreshments and a welcoming atmosphere for visitors to the Top End and local non-members to come along, hire a bow and have a go.
The aim of the club is to establish a facility that can be enjoyed by all disciplines of archery whilst promoting the sport and educating hunters in the ethical expectations when hunting feral animals in order to preserve the sport. Our current insurance prohibits the use of cross bows on club grounds and club organised events and activities. |
